International Liver Cancer Movement

Clarion I has been co-creating a global movement (ILCM) to advance much needed liver cancer advocacy and bring change to millions of patients. The movement acts as a synergist for experience exchange between member organisations, capacity building and co-design of solutions.

Drawing on its expertise in the liver field, Clarion I has mapped the ecosystem and convened meetings to shape the initiative, ensuring a robust, patient-led governance from the start. It has also been involved in supporting discussions on resource co-creation to raise awareness (incl. liver cancer awareness month efforts) and to deliver policy impact (i.e., production of a white paper on liver cancer in 2021), as well as on generating digital tools to help patients.

As the movement welcomes more members and as more experience exchange and co-production of resources take place, we hope to see more active patient groups in the space, mobilising action and affecting change.

Further, the ILCM way of working via its different work streams not only ensures that everyone with the relevant interest/ expertise has a voice in shaping strategies around a given subject but also, it promotes engagement and movement ownership by members, making this a possible blueprint for community building around other disease areas which have been unattended, overlooked and/or neglected.
